Patient Fees

The standard consultation charge is $60 for a 30 min appointment. If the consult is relatively straightforward, the doctor may issue a discounted charge of only $30. For the first few visits when active medical problems are being sorted, standard consult charges apply. The discounted charge is usually for review of stable medical conditions or simple intercurrent illnesses. If the medical problem is complex, or when multiple issues are being sorted out, the doctor may charge an extended consult fee of $90.

Modifiers can be added depending on several factors. CSC card holders have their consult charges capped while patients aged 14-17 years are given a 25% discount. Children 13 years and younger are free except for nursing services. After 5 pm and on Saturdays, there is a fixed surcharge of $10 for all consults.

Non-enrolled patients and non-residents can be seen on a casual basis but incur an additional $10 surcharge for the initial visit. Patients who are enrolled elsewhere are expected to follow-up with their own doctors and subsequent consults are billed with a $40 surcharge.

Consumables for procedures are charged at actual cost for each item plus a nominal stocking fee. Selected services which require expensive equipment such as ECG and ultrasound scans may incur a surcharge.

Every two years on the 1st October, we will adjust our fees based on the official annual inflation rate released by Stats NZ for the preceeding two years. At the same time, we will also revise our staff salaries in the same manner. This is to ensure that our patients are not overcharged, and that our staff are paid a living wage.
